CHICKENS - On May 8, 2017 Aumsville City Council will review the pilot program and decide whether to continue or remove the program.

On June 8th, 2015 the City Council approved an ordinance amendment to allow chickens with the following changes to Nuisance Ordinance 4-6:

Conduct a 2 year pilot program.  
All issues and complaints during the period will be tracked and documented by the Aumsville Police Department.

Limit the number of hens to 4 per household and are only allow on single family or duplex dwelling sites. Roosters are prohibited on less than one acre of land.
 
No license/permit or inspections required
except;
      -
Coops are subject to the Aumsville Development Ordinance and Marion County Building Codes if a building permit is required (accessory building 200 sq. ft or larger require a MC Building Permit).

Chickens shall be kept in an enclosed coop or run
at all times; and shall be kept for personal, non-commercial use only.

• Chicken owners must comply with Aumsville animal ordinance found in the Nuisance Ordinance No. 369, section 4-6.

Council will revisit this June of 2017 and determine whether to continue the program, adopt it permanently, or discontinue it, prohibiting chickens on less than an acre.
